The bright upper side is only seen when flying, males are distinctly purple, whilst females are aqua blue with a yellow spot. At rest only the underside is seen. Caterpillars feed on yellow mistletoe Amyema spp. growing on Eucalypts. In SA prefer A. miquelii. Associated with an attendant ant Camponotus sp.
